Many of you have dreamed of retiring in Southern North Carolina, but you may be in for a climate and culture shock. For one thing, people in Southern North Carolina are a lot more friendly than you may be used to. They’re always smiling and saying hello, even if they don’t know you. It’s a little overwhelming at first, but you will get used to it. Another thing is that people in North Carolina are a lot more relaxed. They take their time, and they don’t seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere. This can be a little frustrating at times, but it’s also kind of nice.

Of course, there are some downsides to retiring in Southern North Carolina. For one thing, the summers are really hot and humid. And the mosquitoes are huge! But be warned, you will also have to to learn to love sweet tea and grits! And you might have to deal with a hurricane or two. Even though hurricanes can be a little scary they make you realize how resilient the people of Southern North Carolina are. They’re always willing to help each other out, and they never give up hope.

And who knows, you might even come to love the hurricanes. After all, they’re a part of what makes Southern North Carolina so special. So pour yourself a glass of sweet tea and let to storm come rolling in.
